Therapy sessions with me involve a relaxed but fully engaged two-way conversation - built on trust, warmth and genuine interest in what is happening for you.
There are different ways we can approach these conversations, depending on what works best for you:
‘Open Space’ Therapy
Open-space therapy offers safe, supportive sessions to explore whatever is arising for you without any agenda. It is a more classic therapeutic approach, where you decide in every session what you want to talk about and we go wherever that conversation takes us. The aim is to give attention to what matters most to you, gain new understandings and a fuller sense of what is right for you.
Structured or Focussed Therapy
For some people thinking of new topics to discuss each week can feel a bit overwhelming or unfocused, and a sense of order can help. One option is to take some time at the start of therapy to identify what some of your core themes are, then we'll work to address them bit by bit in sessions. Another option is to take the Path Principles framework as our guiding structure and work through one principle at a time in relation to your perspectives and your life situation. Before starting therapy we can discuss which approach you might prefer, and we can also experiment as we go along if you aren’t sure.

There’s no fixed duration for therapy - it really depends on what you want to get out of the sessions. Some people use therapy as a short-term support to navigate a specific situation over a couple of months. But usually therapy is an longer ongoing process, allowing you to explore deeper patterns in your life. If you do want to work to a shorter or fixed term, I can offer structured therapy which can be better suited to this.

Therapy depends on regular contact, and especially at the beginning weekly sessions are best to build a relationship and gain some momentum. However I am open to working weekly or fortnightly if that suits you better.
-
Not at all - I’m open to working with anyone interested in my style of working, regardless of whether you think of yourself as ‘spiritual’ or religious. I’m equally open to working with anyone of any faith or no faith.
The philosophy that I draw on can also be seen as universal wisdom that appears in Stoic philosophies and many types of western psychology.
There is no need or expectation that we have to label our work together as specifically spiritual.

Yes, it’s a great idea to have a brief chat before deciding so that we can both be sure the fit between us feels right. Drop me a message and we can set up a 20 min Zoom call to talk things through.

Yes, if you would like to explore having supervision with me please feel free to contact me and we can discuss your needs.
I’m especially interested in supervising therapists looking to integrate philosophical or spiritual wisdom into their work.
I’m also keen to support early to mid career therapists developing their therapeutic perspective and integrating learning into their work.
