The Path Principles
What are the Path Principles?
My style of working brings together humanistic psychotherapy—which centres you as the expert in your own life—with training in spiritual care that invites you to explore the deeper questions in life that can provide a sense of meaning and purpose.
At the heart of my approach are four core principles, that I have come to see as fundamental to personal growth over my years of practice. These are drawn from wisdom that is shared across many spiritual and philosophical traditions. Together, they form what I’ve called The Path Principles.
P — Presence
Everything unfolds in the here and now. Noticing what is happening within you, and around you, can be a key support in easing emotional distress. Much of what troubles us arises from replaying the past or worrying about an uncertain future. Therapy offers a space to become more aware of the shifting landscape of your feelings and your mind - to notice where they take you, and be together in the present moment where we can get clearer about things as they are. A — Acceptance
We tend to suffer less when we accept reality as it is, while taking responsibility for how we respond. Acceptance doesn’t mean passivity or resignation; it means recognising when and how to act and when to adjust or let go, even in the face of disappointment, loss, or injustice. T — Trust
Living with greater peace and satisfaction often involves developing trust—both in ourselves and in life itself. Trust can mean learning to rely on your inner resources, responding with care and resilience, and having confidence in our life process, even when the path ahead feels uncertain. H — Home
We all belong, simply by being here. Your value is inherent, just as it is for everyone else. Therapy offers a space to feel seen, understood, and accepted, and to explore what may get in the way of fully appreciating your own worth. It is also a place to practise returning to a sense of belonging within yourself.

The Combined Path
Together, these principles provide a grounding framework that I draw on and share with you as we explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and sense of meaning and purpose. My hope is that, as your capacity for presence, acceptance, trust, and belonging grows, this supports a more peaceful and satisfying relationship with yourself, others, and life as it is.
